Alfred M. Barbe High School

Alfred M. Barbe High School has established itself as a powerhouse in both academics and athletics since opening its doors on September 1, 1971. The largest high school in Calcasieu Parish with over 2,000 students in grades 9-12, Barbe boasts a 91% graduation rate—well above Louisiana's state average of 83%—and consistently ranks in the top 30% of all public schools statewide. The school holds the distinction of offering the highest number of Advanced Placement courses in Louisiana, with students achieving exceptional performance on AP exams.

Barbe's reputation extends far beyond the classroom. The baseball program has won 12 state championships (most recently in 2023), and the 2014 team claimed the first Perfect Game High School National Championship in school history. The bowling team captured three consecutive state titles (2008, 2010, 2011), while the football program has qualified for the state playoffs in 39 of its 49 seasons.
