DeQuincy High School

DeQuincy High School represents over 125 years of educational excellence, tracing its roots to 1899 when Mr. D.D. Hereford began teaching in a simple one-room building. As DeQuincy grew from a handful of stores and dwellings to a thriving community, the school expanded accordingly. By 1910, enrollment had grown to 148 students, necessitating the construction of a modern brick building. The Louisiana State Department of Education officially recognized DeQuincy High as an approved high school in 1913—a designation it has maintained ever since. Today, the school continues this legacy of long-standing community commitment while adapting to modern educational standards.

Currently serving 303 students in grades 9-12, DeQuincy High School boasts a remarkable 95% graduation rate—well above Louisiana's 83% state average—and ranks 82nd within the state.
